My wife and I spent Christmas in Hawaii with her family. We spent most of the time on the island of Kauai, known as the garden island.
Just up the road from our hotel, the Spouting Horn is a tidal blow-hole in the shore rocks. As the tide comes in, it gets forced through the rock formation and spouts 50 feet into the air.
These pictures were taken in the Kauai Botanical Gardens. Amazing plant life.
We took an "Adventure Boat Tour" along Kauai's epic North Shore. Sadly, the sky was overcast (and it rained for part of the day), and it was difficult shooting with my little point 'n shoot encased in its water-proof shell, but I got some pretty nice shots of the shoreline.
We did some snorkeling in a reef just off of the hotel beach.
Waimea Canyon is the largest canyon in the Pacific, at 10 miles long and up to a mile wide. We drove around the rim of the canyon, pausing from time to time for short hikes.
